Motorcycle Awareness is important to you

You may be aware of the risks of riding your motorcycle, but are other road users around you?

If the driver of a car or truck doesn’t see you or isn’t aware that you may be closer than you appear, then it is you who might get hurt in a crash. The negligent driver would likely be protected by the metal frame of his vehicle. Even though the truck driver may be responsible for causing the collision, you will end up paying the physical price.

Educate operators of other vehicles to be more conscious of the presence of motorcyclists.

Educating other road users is our responsibility because other road users may have little experience with motorcycles, they don’t expect motorcycles on the road, and overlook them and cause catastrophic collisions. Thus, while you might not need the reminder about motorcycle safety and awareness, others might and it is in your best interest to make sure that everyone gets the message.

Here’s how you can do it

During this Motorcycle Awareness Month, and in the months that follow, we encourage you to:

  • Promote our motorcycle safety tips on Facebook, Twitter, or other social media platforms.
  • Become involved in your community, club, chapter, ride group, school, or road safety groups that promote motorcycle safety.
  • Host an MSI training day or skills workshop in your area.
  • Put a THINK BIKE sticker on your vehicle/s.

Order your stickers HERE

  • A 10-Pack Stickers @ R70.00
  • Postage @ R10 (DL Size Envelope + Postage)
  • Not for resale.

It may not be riders who need the awareness education, but it may be riders who can provide that education to the other road users we depend on to keep us safe every time we get on the road. It may be the awareness that a rider promotes that keeps that rider—or another—safe from a serious or fatal collision. That is why Motorcycle Awareness is important to you, to us, and to all riders in South Africa.
